Not all black tea is the same!

Darjeeling, Assam and Earl Grey . These are the common types of black tea at every breakfast buffet. So who needs black tea from China?

A quick fact check:

The noble Darjeeling , named after the town of origin Darjeeling in the Indian Himalayas, is also called the champagne of black teas . The first picking (the so-called first flush) in particular has a light color when brewed and tastes wonderfully delicate and floral.

But what many tea drinkers don’t know:

The caffeine content of Darjeeling is very high.

The second popular type of black tea is the strong, dark Assam from the tropical lowland region of India on the Pramaputra River. The Assam leaf picked there is large, tolerates a dash of milk and brown sugar due to its strong aroma and often has a malty note.

A clear recommendation for coffee lovers!

But for some refined palates, it might be too much oomph.

And what is Earl Grey?

Earl Grey simply means that black tea is refined with bergamot oil .

Some people think that's wonderful, while others give the British people a wide berth.

And what makes Chinese black tea special?

Chinese tea stands for:

1. Low tannins ✅

2. Good tolerability ✅

That's why this month we would like to introduce you to our black tea Gold Pearls Dian Hong No 140 at a one-time introductory price (9.90 euros for mom).

The large leaves with golden tips are harvested in the cradle of tea cultivation, in Yunnan, China, and shaped by hand into large pearls.

When poured over with hot water, the leaves open again to their full size and unfold their soft, full aroma, free of any bitterness.

We recommend our popular Gold Pearls to you both if you are a fan of the noble Darjeeling and if you are a lover of the strong Assam varieties.

Heartfelt,

your team at TEEGALERIE
